Drugstores are like my version of the Bermuda Triangle. I approach them with every intention of buying one thing – you know, like paper towels, shaving cream, a note card, etc.— and walk out with 12 items I actually don’t need. How does that happen? It’s like I black out and wake up with a cart full of Pokémon puzzles, inflatable beach balls, and jelly beans (and in other related news, I’m often referred to as a hoarder…).
But while I’m racking up frequent member points for reasons unknown, Walgreens and Unilever are smartly taking advantage of regulars like me to do some good in the world. The retail giants are joining forces with social enterprise ME to WE to help bring clean water to those in need through Give H2OPE to Others (#GiveH2OPE).
From now until August 27, for every select TRESemmé, Suave, Caress, or AXE product sold at Walgreens stores, six cents (equal to 5 gallons of water) will be donated to WE Charity. And for every purchase of two or more of these products, eighteen cents (equal to 15 gallons of water) will be donated.
“Walgreens today continues a long-standing commitment of meaningful global corporate citizenship focused on making an impact in the community, environment, workplace and marketplace,” said Alex Gourlay, co-chief operating officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. “Our participation in Give H2OPE to Others for a second year reflects this mission of making it easy for our customers to take part and help make a difference around the world.”
