“We Day” Empowers Young Change-Makers

“If we don’t take action, who will?” It’s one of the core beliefs that drive the We Day movement, founded by power duo, Craig and Marc Kielburger in 2007. When the brothers launched the initiative, they set out to build an army of #GenWe(ers) who would change the world through in-school programs and events. Mission accomplished: Pint-sized change-makers have already logged over 27 million hours of service and raised 79 million dollars for local and global organizations since the program’s inception.

To celebrate their achievements, and to thank corporate sponsors, We Day held a bash in California honoring the kid do-gooders complete with their favorite celebs like Selena Gomez, Laila Ali, and DJ Khaled. was also front and center for the moving testimonials and nuggets of wisdom (which we shared here and here) thanks to Dermalogica, owned by Unilever who’s a title sponsor of WE Day. But it wasn’t just a work obligation for our hosts. Jane Wurwand, founder of Dermalogica, shared a personal message of triumph, and how success has allowed her to uplift others in the industry through the brand’s FITE program, which helps women access education, small loans, and more. Her moving speech (watch it here) left us ready to conquer the world (or at least join the movement) and instilled motivational reminders like this one, “it doesn’t matter where you came from, it only matters where you’re going.”
